Beach named editor of Echo Press
Jeff Beach has been named as the editor of the Alexandria Echo Press.
Beach comes to the Echo Press after serving as the editor for Forum News Service in Fargo.
Beach is an alumnus of the University of North Dakota and has worked at farm and business magazines and at several newspapers, including the Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald and the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader.
He was the news editor for the Grand Forks Herald when it won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for its coverage of the 1997 Red River Valley flood that forced the evacuation of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, Minn.
He started working as a reporter while he was still in high school in Hillsboro, N.D.
Beach has worked with the Echo Press staff in his role at Forum News Service. Both Forum News Service and the Echo Press are owned by Forum Communications Co.
"The Echo Press has a strong staff and a great reputation, I am looking forward to building on that foundation and immersing myself in the issues important to readers of the Echo Press," Beach said.
"I am very excited to welcome Jeff as the editor of the Echo Press," said Jody Hanson, publisher. "His commitment to journalism as well as his experience in reporting and leadership will be an incredible asset to our newspaper and our community."
Beach and his wife, Sarah, have four sons.
