On the street

• Author Robin Wall Kimmerer will sign books at Cherry Street Books in Alexandria Monday, September 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. Braiding Sweetgrass is the title of her multi-award-winning non-fiction book, which is subtitled Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants. Kimmerer is a mother, scientist and professor of botany and environmental biology in New York. She is an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation and is in Minnesota to receive the Booksellers Choice Award.

She will also speak at Alexandria United Metho-dist Church at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 28 and lead an outdoor exploration on Monday.
