• Melisa Schueler took over as director of Community Preschool of First Lutheran Church in Alexandria last fall. Schueler is in her 25th year teaching preschool. She began teaching at Community Preschool in 1999. Community Preschool is in its 36th year at First Lutheran Church. It offers half-day classes for children 3-5 years old. • G.G. Freitag, an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple, Inc., was recently promoted to senior team manager. Freitag earned the promotion through sales achievements and by adding new consultants to her team.

• Nancy Gilbertson is a recipient of Knute Nelson’s (KN) Tree of Excellence award, the highest level of recognition through the KN Recognition Program. Nancy is an administrative assistant for Grand Arbor by Knute Nelson. She was nominated by her peers who said that “the residents love and depend on her, she serves with a smile and gives exceptional customer service, and she does a phenomenal job keeping things organized.”

• Jim Stratton, Douglas County Commissioner, was elected to serves as county board chairman, a one year term, on the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Stratton represents District 2, which includes a portion of the city of Alexandria, Forada, Hudson, LaGrand and Lake Mary townships.
