Class of 1947 celebrates 70th reunion
The Alexandria High School Class of 1947 graduated in a year when the Cold War began with the Soviet Union, an object crashed in Roswell, New Mexico, and the CIA was established.
On Saturday, Sept. 9, the class will meet for lunch at Fat Daddy's to celebrate its 70th reunion. The class invites schoolmates from other classes to join them. For more information, call Joan Larson at 320-846-7061.
The Roswell crash later sparked controversy and conspiracy theories that linger to this day that the U.S. military covered up an alien spacecraft. The military maintains the crashed object was a high-altitude surveillance balloon. That same year, the Polaroid camera was first discovered and a new house sold for an average of $6,600.
