Alexandria community education classes starting soon

Community education will offer several classes that start in September. To register, visit or call 320-762-3310, ext. 4272

• Private guitar, voice, bass, piano, and drawing or cartooning lessons with Steve Deitz. The vocal music instructor at Alexandria Area High School offers 30-minute sessions from Sept. 14-Oct. 22 at the Alexandria Area High School choir room. Time slots run from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Cost is $115 for five sessions.

• Learn how coffee is made and take home a small sample of roasted or green coffee beans. Instructors Bill Jarvi and Paul Trumm have been experimenting with beans of different origins. The cost is $9 for the two-hour session at Common Ground Coffee House at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18.

• Senior housing tour will present living choices in the Alexandria area including senior apartments, adult foster care facilities, assisted living facilities and 55-plus housing communities. A short informational session will precede the tour aboard a Rainbow Rider bus. The cost is $5 for the three-hour session at the Public Works Conference Room, 526 Willow Dr. at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.

• Fall custom pallet painting will teach students to create a custom sign on reclaimed wood. They will take home a completed project. The $35 cost includes all supplies. This class meets at the Discovery Middle School art room at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18.
