The Alexandria Area High School Theatre Department has earned a star rating for its one-act play for the second consecutive year.

On Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Minnesota State High School League's State One-Act Play Festival, the cast and crew of the one-act play were awarded a star rating for their production of "Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde."

State one-act play performances are judged by three individuals who each give star ratings to schools they deem as having achieved the highest honor in theater for the day. A school must receive a star from at least two judges to receive an official star rating.

"I was thrilled for our students on Thursday," director Jessica Chipman said. "Their teamwork and artistry shone through their performance, and we were honored to receive a star rating. This is a special group of students that I am honored to work with."

Minnetonka, Apple Valley, and Robbinsdale-Cooper schools also received stars.
