Update: Garbage truck catches fire west of Alexandria

Alexandria firefighters put out a fire that's believed to have started from under the cab of a West Central Sanitation garbage truck Monday afternoon.

The fire department was called to the scene on Lake Taylor Road northwest of Alexandria at about 3 p.m. after the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call. The driver, Robert Pless, was unable to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.

When deputies and firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
