Jenc, Grove named homecoming king and queen
The Alexandria Area High School Homecoming Coronation king and queen were named during a ceremony Monday night at the school's Performing Arts Center.
This year's queen is Ashlyn Jenc and the king is Jackson Grove.
The queen was revealed when the four candidates — Jenc, McKenna Gibson, Josie Minnerath and Calley Richardson — opened boxes that were placed before them. When Jenc opened her box, a balloon came out signifying she was named as the 2017 Homecoming Queen.
Once the crown was placed on her head, Jenc held the king's crown over each of the four candidates — Grove, Brock Anderson, Drew Steffensmeier and Cole Wild — eventually placing the crown on Grove's head, naming him as the 2017 Homecoming King.
Other royalty included:
Juniors: Caden Scheunert and Sydney Gray
Sophomores: Matthew Carlsen and Ally Abers
Freshman: Aaron Stotesbery and Sadie Boraas
Junior kids: Briggs Hochalter and Lila Schlichting
The Homecoming Parade will take place on Broadway Saturday, Sept. 16, starting at 11 a.m. There will be a tailgate party/community rally at the high school at 11:30 a.m. with the football game starting at 2 p.m. The Alexandria Cardinals will take on the Brainerd Warriors.
