Boys Basketball: Lakers win first home game

In the Minnewaska boys basketball team's season opener on Saturday, the Lakers defeated Lakeview 68-56. On Tuesday, when New London-Spicer headed to Glenwood, the score broke exactly the same in favor of Minnewaska again.

The Lakers built up a 30-27 lead by the half but then outscored the Wildcats 38-29 in the second half.

Senior Matt Gruber had a team-leading 19 points on the night, making five of his attempted eight field goals for a 62 percent average. Senior Jackson Johnsrud followed with 18 points and senior Garrett Jensen had 15.

The Lakers had a total of 33 rebounds. Senior Jaeger Jergenson lead with eight of those followed by Johnsrud with seven.

The Laker's overall score stands at 2-0 heading into another away game in Montevideo on Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
