Boys basketball: Morris shoots 64 percent to down WCA
The Morris Area-Chokio-Alberta boys basketball team started the season 2-7 but has rattled off three straight wins after shooting 64 percent in a 77-70 win over West Central Area on Thursday.
The Tigers (5-7) knocked down 9-of-13 threes in the first half and 19-of-27 field goals overall on the way to a 48-31 lead. The Knights (5-5) shot well themselves, but not well enough to overcome that kind of night from Morris.
"We shot 50 percent, including 43 percent on threes," WCA head coach Kraig Hunter said. "We tied them in rebounding at 23-23 and had our season low turnovers at six, and we still got beat. They shot it extremely well."
Senior guard Brady Sabolik led the Knights with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals. Senior center Logan Paulson added 14 points, five rebounds and three steals. Logan Nadgwick had 12 points and Dawson Staples and Jack Van Kempen each added nine.
The Tigers had even more depth with four players in double figures. Jaret Johnson led the way with 21, while Tate Nelson had 19, Connor Koebernick 16 and Camden Arndt 12.
